A Little About Me
I have drawn and painted for as long as I can remember, my school exercise books were always covered with biro drawings, much to the annoyance of my teachers! I love bright colours and enjoy using acrylics, oil based paints and resin to create some unusual abstract effects.
Although I’ve always loved to paint, I also studied interior design for a number of years before deciding to concentrate solely on my art. Exploring the work of other artists made me realise that I wanted to develop my own unique style. This led to several years of studying, experimenting with different mediums and having some ‘happy accidents’, which resulted in the work that I am currently producing. I became a professional artist in 2010.
I am currently focusing on acrylics but enjoy all mediums and will use whatever best suits the subject. Much of my work is inspired by the landscape and I try to add my own unique twists to produce paintings that are sometimes a little surreal. Moving to The Isle of Wight in the summer of 2017 has proved to be incredibly inspirational!
My sports paintings evolved from a childhood love of horses and from watching ‘Le Tour de France’ on television whilst expecting my Daughter. I’m always exploring new subjects that will exploit this technique.
I am a Professional Associate of The SAA – www.saa.co.uk – and have written two articles for their magazine ‘Paint’, also being a brand ambassador for Pebeo paint on their behalf. Three of my paintings were shortlisted for the Pebeo Mixed Media 2016 competition resulting in an exhibition at The A & D Gallery in Marylebone. I was delighted to have an artwork displayed and sold in The Oxo Tower Wharf Gallery as part of ’The Letter in Mind’ exhibition for The National Brain Charity.
I am represented by West Wight Framing in Yarmouth on The Isle of Wight – www.westwightframing.co.uk – where I have a permanent exhibition space with prints and original paintings for sale. A selection of my work is also available at The Frame Gallery, Odiham in Berkshire – www.theframe-gallery.co.uk – and at Picturesque Art Gallery in Billericay, Essex – www.picturesque.co.uk
I sell at shows throughout the year where you can meet me and talk about ‘all things arty’, please see the ‘Exhibitions and Shows’ section for more details.
