I hope that you are all well and safe in these uncertain times, none of us knows what the future will bring and we can only live day to day at the moment and do our best to get through.
One of the things that we are finding is that we are really missing friends and family. I guess this is where we are so lucky to have the technology to stay in touch through platforms such as Zoom and Facetime. We have had some hilarious quizzes, have visited the ‘virtual pub’ and even had a virtual disco complete with colour changing disco light (the best £8 I’ve ever spent!). Anything to raise the spirits has to be a good thing.
If you’ve come up with any novel ideas to keep busy I’d love to see them, feel free to share on social media. One hilarious thing I’ve seen is a challenge by The Getty Museum to recreate famous paintings using everyday household objects – some of the resuts can be seen Here
As you might have noticed from the image above, I have finally finished ‘The Abu Dhani Grand Prix’. It has probably been a year or so in the planning, I have rejected countless compositions but am really thrilled with the final result in which I wanted to capture speed and the essence of the race – The iconic Yas Hotel, the flypast and the ‘tented’ grandstands. If you want to see more details then the original is on the website Here and the link to prints and coasters is Here – I hope you like!
Whilst painting it I also did some filming, if you want to watch it on YouTube then press Here I’ve also joined TikTok which has been a mystery to me up until now. I’ve made several short films including one of The Grand Prix (particularly proud of that one, I found an excellent backing track to accompany it), other paintings and Isle of Wight landscapes. The link is Here
Finally, thank you all so much for your orders over the last few weeks, your support is really appreciated, especially at the moment, I hope that they have brought you a little cheer. We are still able to post anything from the website, our local Post Office is only short walk away and social distancing is being adhered to. All I would say is that there are delays within Royal Mail but I’ll happily use Special delivery or find other faster ways if time is an issue, just let me know first. I’m also very happy to add handwritten messages in gift cards should you wish a present sent to someone.
That’s all for now, stay safe,
Julia
