I used both acrylic paint and oil based ‘markers’ to produce this painting, I applied the background with brushes and the edge of a painting knife – I wanted to indicate the Yas Hotel and the ‘tented’ roofs of the grandstands. I also added the fly past, an iconic part of the occasion.
I wanted to create the impression of speed so blurred the crowd, I also like to add excitement into my paintings hence the crash at the rear of the field which I produced with very thin white paint and flicking.
